ABSIM TRAINS TO FIVE CORE ABDOMINAL EXAMINATION MILESTONES

Milestone 1
Depth of palpatory examination
AbSim continually monitors the depth of the learner's palpatory efforts in real time and provides immediate feedback sufficient to improve their capacity to detect the presence or absence of abdominal abnormalities.

Milestone 2
Thoroughness of palpatory examination
AbSim tracks the location of the learner's palpatory efforts in real time and provides immediate feedback regarding the thoroughness of their abdominal examination. Feedback sufficient to improve their capacity to detect the presence or absence of abdominal abnormalities.

Milestone 3
Multiple practice opportunities with self-Selected abdominal abnormalities
AbSim provides learners practice opportunities sufficient to reliably detect and distinguish, a core set of abdominal abnormalities such as the presence of localized tenderness and/or guarding (e.g., appendicitis, cholecystitis), and/or organomegally (e.g., splenomegaly, hepatomegaly, distended urinary bladder).

Milestone 4
Self Assessment via randomly selected abdominal abnormalities
AbSim enables learners to self-assess their evolving ability to reliably detect randomly selected abnormal abdominal findings (e.g. localized tenderness or localized tenderness and guarding over the appendix, ovaries, colon), and various forms of organomegaly (e.g., splenomegaly, etc.)

Milestone 5
Diagnosing Case vignettes integrated with a variety of abnormal abdominal findings
AbSim provides learners with case vignettes integrated with a variety of abnormal abdominal findings. Practice opportunities sufficient to develop and refine the learners' evolving capacity to correctly diagnose a variety of common/important
abdominal disorders.
